I am so Gangsta

Last night was my first hip hop class. Hi! Have we met? I’m one of the whitest girls you will ever meet. I haven’t ever taken a hip hop class before and I think it just might be the death of me.

My good friend Tovi is teaching this class and I thought what the heck that should be fun. Well friends let me tell you something; I have done approximately 0.000 exercising in the past four years and I’m feeling it today. Everything hurts. I want to take a hot bubble bath right now and have a drink (preferably something with alcohol in it).

So far so good, but it’s not going to be an easy. Throughout the class I thought to myself you want me to do what with my body? Top rock, huh? And when we started learning some simple freezes (simple?) I thought I was going to break my head off. It was not pretty. I think I’m too old for this. The easiest freeze she taught was putting your head on the floor, your hands on the floor in front of you shoulder width apart, and balancing with your knees on your arms? Does that make sense? I didn’t think so. Anyway…after class I told my friend that my head was saying, “Hey your butt isn’t supposed to be up there. What the heck?”

Sometime in early June next year we will be having a recital, so hopefully by then I won’t look like I’m seizuring about on the stage.

Here’s a picture of my interpretation of what hip hop looks like. This was taken right before I walked out the door to go to class. Peace out!

Hold it...Put Down the Scissors

Quick stop me before I do something drastic.

I’m thinking about chopping my hair…again. Before I go all nuts-o and grab the nearest pair of scissors I want your honest opinions. I have an oval shaped face and according to most things I’ve read and heard this shape works well with practically any length.

In the past I’ve been one to see a cut, immediately fall in love and call Tovi (my lovely friend and hair stylist) the very next day to make an appointment. Thankfully she has known me for a while and when I tell her what I want she talks me through it before she will even begin. I love her for that. Some stylists just say whatevs and go for it. I’ve been to these stylists before and hated the outcome, but what can you really do? I mean your hair is already cut; the only thing left to do is go shorter or grow it out. This has not been the case with Tovi. I haven’t ever come away from the salon upset with what she’s done to my hair.

Before I show you what you might need to stop me from doing I’ll give you an example of my compulsive behavior. Hopefully this will help you restrain me if this is a terrible idea.

Earlier this year I watched the Miss America reality show and fell in love with one of the contestant’s makeovers which involved bangs and I had to have bangs. That wasn’t a major deal because it wasn’t a bad choice, but nonetheless I did it practically with out thinking about it first.

A couple of months ago I started to get tired of my long hair and wanted something different. I went to Tovi pleading for a change, so she put in some layers and I kept the bangs. Still not bad.

I then decided I needed something really different, so I had her give me an A-line that was pretty dramatic. It was pretty awesome and I was really happy with it. I hadn’t had shorter hair for a while, so it took some getting used to, but it was great.

Last week I went in and asked for it to be shortened a little more, but I wanted to keep the overall A-line look. It’s not bad. I think I liked the dramatic look better, but what’s been done has been done and now I can only move forward. I can either let it grow…or cut it shorter.

This is where I may need a straight jacket and all sharp objects hidden from my sight for a while. I’m contemplating going shorter. Much shorter. Possibly pixie shorter. Are you still with me? Please don’t scratch your eyes out when you see what I’ve been liking lately. Give me your honest opinion and I promise I won’t call Tovi today to make an appointment. I’ll wait at least a couple of weeks to let this one settle in because it’s so different.

Do you love any of these? Hate them all? Let me know what you think. I appreciate the feedback/ constructive criticism.

Here are the pictures of my most recent hair style. What do you think? Leave it? Cut it? Shave it?
